IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING STATE GOVERNMENT CLOSURE

The Maine Board of Dental Examiners will be closed on Monday, July 6, 2009, due to the 2010-2011 Biennial State Budget, Public Law 2009, Chap. 213, Part SSS. This is the first of 10 closure days between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010.   View Complete List of Shut Down Days Here.

 

Proposed Rule Changes

 The comment deadline for the proposed changes is August 17, 2009.  No public hearing is planned at this time.

 

Adopted Rule Changes

 

The new rules adopted by the Maine Board of Dental Examiners became effective February 11, 2009.  As a reminder, under the new rules for use of sedation & general anesthesia by dentists (Ch 14), the waiver for the educational & training requirements of the new rule is only in effect for 12 months from the effective date of the rule.  Dentists who are performing “moderate sedation” as defined by Chapter 14 must apply for & obtain a permit from the Board.  Any dentist requesting a waiver of the educational & training requirements for a permit for moderate sedation under Chapter 14 must submit a written request for the waiver on or before February 11, 2010.
